FOMS AGM - A review of fundraising and spending in 2024/25

Thank you to those who attended the 2024/5 FOMS AGM on Wednesday 25th 2026. It was great to see some new faces join us.

We discussed:

  • Treasurer’s Annual Financial Report

  • Upcoming events for Spring/Summer 2026

  • Future of FOMS

  • Fundraising Goals for 2026/27

Read on for a summary of key points from the meeting, including fundraising and spending for the 2024-5 school year and the future of FOMS!

Friends of Morgans School 2023/24 fundraiser review. Total: £18,547.89. Events include discos, fairs, sales, and quiz nights.

foms fundraising breakdown

2024-2025 was another fantastic year for Friends of Morgans School (FOMS), which included our 75th Anniversary celebrations alongside our regular events which include 3 discos, the Summer Fair, Christmas Fair and Morgans Mile and more, bringing in an incredible £14,472.63 in profit to spend on school projects!

The Morgans Mile was our biggest earner in 2024-25, with sponsorship and sales of refreshments raising an impressive

£2348!

Another big earner was the Summer Fair, raising:

£1632.28

Summer Fair Profits were slightly lower compared to previous years due to splashing out on attractions to celebrate the school's 75th anniversary - including a fabulous Ferris Wheel, which the children (and adults too) enjoyed, while getting a unique view of the school grounds.

Our 3 Discos are also solid earners and a highlight of the FOMS calendar, which the kids adore.

We held a Halloween themed disco in the Autumn Term, followed by a Spring and a Summer Disco, raising a combined total of

£3088

New events for 2024-5 were two wreath making workshops, and we continued our newer events; the World Book Day Sale and our adults only Quiz nights, which have been popular recent additions to the FOMS calendar.

Our biggest expenditure in 2024-25 was a second fabulous new climbing frame in the KS1 playground! Other expenses were a range of musical instruments to enhance the children's music lessons, plus usual annual contributions, which include panto treats for all children, yr6 leavers pizza, and a contribution towards yr5 cycling proficiency costs.

Chart titled "2023/24 In Review" shows spending on school items like playframe (£14999.50), iPads (£9200.54), and Easter eggs (£92.77).

2026 spending so far

Our school pond is currently undergoing another make-over to enable a whole class to use the space safely, so FOMS have provided funding for the enlargement of the pond itself, new fencing and plants. We look forward to watching it come to life over the next few months as plants start to bloom and, fingers crossed, some wildlife moves in!

FOMS have also funded a range of new playground equipment for all of the children to enjoy during breaktime, and a very mysterious surprise event, which children should be finding out about very soon!

the future of foms

Also discussed at the AGM was the future of Friends of Morgans School.

Our 3 current trustees are stepping down at the end of the 2025-26 school year, meaning that unless new volunteers come forward to take over the running of FOMS, the charity will have to be mothballed, which would be a tremendous loss to the school community, but also to the school, as the funding FOMS provides has given a huge boost to school funds in very difficult times.
